JEANNINE LAWDER

about Jeannine

My pieces are usually non-functional and are made to reflect specific themes. These themes can include the title of an exhibition being prepared for, current personal moods or simply responses to abstract combinations of materials and techniques. My work and choice of projects are still influenced by my training of working to design briefs, seasons, styles, colour moods and so I try to stretch these boundaries by adding elements of mystery, theatre and half suggested motifs. Where relevant I create separate text in prose poetry as part of the piece.

Techniques used include: hand and machine embroidery, weaving, tapestry, felt making, beading, eco-dyeing and printing.
