I have a background in technical drawing, working in shipbuilding, engineering and architecture. I have a broad interest in art culture and the built environment and I have enjoyed visiting many of the historical sites and buildings I have studied over the years; it is these that have often provided inspiration for my textile work. As I have come to understand the beautiful spaces, and their rich traditions, I have been able to continue to expand my knowledge, while experimenting with colour.

 

My work usually begins with drawing and printing on fabric or paper. I add hand stitching and try to include metal threads and beads to my finished pieces.
